Trainer for Dealing with the Past

Dr. Norman Mukasa is a peace, conflict and intercultural studies researcher, educator, and consultant with a focus on interculturalism, decolonization and conflict transformation. He currently works as a consultant with Justitia et Pax Germany, where he develops concept, workshops and materials on Dealing with the Past, colonial legacies, and their ongoing impact in society and the workplace.

Norman also lectures at the Cologne International Business School, where he teaches international politics, intercultural management, and African development. His courses emphasize critical engagement with global inequalities, colonial histories, and the cultural dimensions of international relations.

With a PhD in international and intercultural studies, Norman has conducted extensive fieldwork and published research on topics related to peace and conflict, drawing broader insights from conflict settings in Uganda, the DRC, and globally. He works closely with the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO) and civil society organizations in Uganda, contributing to initiatives in post-conflict recovery, grassroots peacebuilding, and transitional justice.

As a trainer, Norman brings a participatory, reflective, and inclusive approach. He uses interactive tools such as storytelling, role-play, and group dialogue to create engaging learning environments rooted in real-world experience. His work is guided by a strong commitment to equity, anti-racism, and decolonial thinking—making complex issues both accessible and personally relevant for participants.
